Side: A dictatorship is better
It has been proven that a Dictatorship can strongly benefit the economy, however it has also been proven that a Dictatorship is not a long lasting form of government. And having all the power being vested into one person makes the chances of them making an unsuitable decision that could easily tear apart their economic growth very high. Side: A democracy is better

I agree that elections can be expensive. However, through electoral process citizens can get more benefits by having a proper leader because during the election process, citizens can get some informations about candidates for representatives. It will be much better than not having a proper election like dictatorship because there is a high possibility for the country to have a new leader that citizens do not want. Argument 3: In a dictatorship there is a low crime rate because the dictators have very severe punishments, even for the smallest crimes. People are afraid of these consequences, so they don’t commit crimes. And most dictatorships are police states, which also means that there is low crime rate under these regimes. This means that a lot of the time people are safe from harm. Side: A dictatorship is better
There may be a low crime rate in a dictatorship, but there is also the high chances of mass killings and crime that is committed by the government against the people, rather than the people against each other. This prevents the bringing of justice seeing as the ruler themselves cannot be forced to go to court and cannot be overthrown lawfully without violence. Side: A democracy is better

Who said that democracies can't end in mass killings? Once again gaps can be created between people (due to reasons I earlier discussed.) Here is a source that will help show that democracy's can end bad too: http://jcr.sagepub.com/content/39/1/ Side: A dictatorship is better

I agree that people are scared of strict punishments and it leads to low crime rate. However, there are many innocent people that are killed just because they were against the government's idea in dictatorship countries. When we look at the democratic countries, governments follow the rules and go through all the steps to punish people to decrease the number of innocent people and this is better because democratic countries only punish people who committed a crime. If the government goes through all of those procedures to make the country safer, then why doesn't it show lower crime rates than a dictatorship? Can we please have an example and source of an innocent person who was charged for a crime they didn't do in a dictatorship. Side: A dictatorship is better

Closing statement: All together, dictatorships are more efficient. Dictatorships save money on the elections that democracy’s are always having. And the money can then be spent on something more important like housing or helping victims of natural calamities. Dictatorships are more efficient since only one person is making all of the major decisions. Government is more stable since there is only one person to make decisions. No elections, e.t.c nothing disturbs the power in place. And finally In a dictatorship there is a low crime rate because the dictators have very severe punishments, even for the smallest crimes. People are afraid of these consequences, so they don’t commit crimes. And most dictatorships are police states, which also means that there is low crime rate under these regimes. This means that a lot of the time people are safe from harm. And sure there were some bad dictators, but there were also bad democracies. It all depends on the person. This all sums up how a dictatorship is better, more efficient, and safer than a democracy. Side: A dictatorship is better

Opening Statement: A democracy is form of government in which power is vested in the people, this form of government has proven to be an exceptionally better form of government than dictatorship for many reasons such as having more freedom and equality. Side: A democracy is better
Argument #1: The first reason why a democratic government is better than a dictatorship is that a democratic government promotes human rights. Human rights are huge aspect of democracy. In democratic countries, government allows the people with freedom of thought, worship, speech and action. These rights are really important because it makes individuals to grow and pursue their personal dreams and goals because they can do anything they want, with the exception of crime, by raising their voices through various platforms such as media. However, dictatorship is very oppressive so people under dictatorship have less freedom of human rights as they are just expected to follow and never to ask questions to their leader or the government. The people in a democracy do basically rule themselves. But the public isn’t always informed on political stuff the way that they should be. And when people lack knowledge of problems in the society, then they might make a bad or wrong decision during elections. The people are easily influenced by mobs. They could make a decision that they end up regretting. Side: A dictatorship is better
The public having knowledge of everything that occurs within the government can lead to violence and protest. Democracy balances its power with both the government and the people so a movement of the law can get voted on by not only government officials, but also the people who this law will be affecting as well. This gives a much lower chance of the government passing a bad law than a dictatorship in which just its just one person making the decisions that they think is best. Side: A democracy is better

Argument #2: The second reason why a democratic government is better than a dictatorship is that a democratic government doesn’t really involve violence. In most of the dictatorship countries, no one has all the power so it doesn’t create a big problem that can occur violent revolutions. Also, leaders and the government follow the rules so they don’t kill innocent people and create a war or fight between different countries for their benefits. However, when we look at the modern history, most of the wars were imposed during the eras of dictators like Stalin, Hitler, Mao Zedong, etc. who created a total chaos in many countries. Furthermore, dictators killed many innocent people using many different kinds of violence just because citizens were against them. Side: A democracy is better
For example, Hitler who is known as the most brutal dictators in history used his power for racial discrimination. He killed 11 million of people which 6 million were jews just because of their race. Also, he was a person who caused a World War ll by his attack at Poland in 1939 which involved a lot of violence and contributed a negative affect in most of the countries. There were more dictators other than Hitler. Such as:
Yumjaagiin Tsedenbal (1952 to 1984.) Provided a 2.70x increase in GDP per capita. Habib Bourguiba (1957 - 1987) Bourguiba led the fight for Tunisia's independence from France and became the first President of the Republic of Tunisia. During his rule, the country moved from a one- to multi-party state, women were granted the right to vote and polygamy was rejected. Deng Xiaoping (1980 - 1997) He re-formed China’s educational system, and lead his country away from Maoism. He is a key as to the beginning of China’s ascent to becoming a global power. And it could be argued that there are bad democracies. Its all an opinion. Just how some people like Donald Trump, others don't. Its all opinion. Side: A dictatorship is better

However, in dictatorship leaders are often chosen by the heredity and it doesn't allow people to raise their voices of opinion about the leader so there will be a plenty of people who don't agree on the leader and it will create a violent revolutions. Side: A democracy is better
There have been cases in which violence does occur, although this system provides people with a feeling of involvement and due to majority rule, will most likely pick out a leader that is suitable for authority. In a dictatorship, the leader can become greatly despised and detested by the citizens and will cause them to be unhappy to live in their country. In a dictatorship, most violence may not occur between citizens but between citizens and the government. This is even worse from the point of view that the leader of the public who is supposed to be defending and protecting them is harming and violating them instead. Side: A democracy is better

More things create gaps between the people. Which can cause violence. Sure laws favor the majority of people, but this is hurtful to the minority. Causing a gap, possibly leading to violence. And once again, in a dictatorship, only 1 person is making decisions, preventing this gap from happening. Side: A dictatorship is better
Argument #3: Another reason out of the many of why a democratic government is better than a dictatorship is that in a democratic government, all the power is not vested into one person. This is a very important point because in a dictatorship, in which all the power is vested into one person, it is very easy for the dictator to make a mistake that ends up bringing down the country. Whereas in a democracy, a law or movement to change anything is passed through various people and gets voted on and supported which makes the chances of the law being inefficient and unsuitable very low. The fact that power is limited to the ruler in a democratic government is also a very well thought strategy, as it prevents abuse of power and makes it possible for a ruler to be replaced lawfully rather than violently if they turn out to be incompatible. You said it depends on the person. However, there are so many dictators who made bad decisions that influenced many different countries. Combining many different opinions and ideas will make better decisions that affects the country in a positive way. Side: A democracy is better
This source helps explain that while a dictatorship may have some benefits, they also have many more intolerable qualities that show how unsuitable form of a government it is. It also explains as to how the government unfairly treats the citizens and how often the case of power abuse occurs: http://connectusfund.org/ Side: A democracy is better
Due to all of the reasoning that has been said and many more points that have not already been mentioned, a democratic government has proven to be the better form of government by promoting equality, stability, freedom, prevention of power abuse and many more. Side: A democracy is better
